Associate Researcher Wataru SATAKE

Ph.D., Earth and Planetary Science, Univ. of Tokyo.

Worked at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) before assuming my current position.
I’m also a researcher at the Planetary Exploration Research Center. My specializes in planetary material science.

My research is to analyze artifacts excavated from archaeological sites and charcoal contained in furnaces, and from this to determine the origins of the artifacts and changes in metalworking techniques.

With my experience working at a museum, he also serves as a curatorial advisor at the Gifu Kamigahara Air and Space Museum (Sky Expo) in Gifu prefecture.
